Aborn was very active in light opera and started his career as an impersario in Boston where he organized his own troupe. He worked with B.F. Keith and performed at Keith's Union Square theatre. With his brother, Aborn founded the Aborn Light Opera Company in 1899 and later formed the Century Company for the presentation of grand opera. In later years he confined his production to mainly Gilbert and Sullivan operas.
