Mae Belle Cochrum, 92, of Columbus, Texas passed away on December 9, 2016 in Columbus.

She was born on June 6, 1924 to William Martin and Clara Augusta (Wywias) Holzer in Wichita Falls, TX. On October 6, 1940 she married Ralph Donald "Shorty" Cochrum. Mae Belle lived in Columbus since 1956.

For more than 38 years, she worked in the nursery at the First Baptist Church in Columbus where she was also a member.

Her favorite pastimes included planting flowers, tending her garden, reading books to children, and taking scenic rides through the countryside to look for deer.

Mae Belle is survived by her daughters, Barbara Meeks of Denver, CO, and Betty Jo Kotrla of Glidden, TX; son, Eddie L. Cochrum of Orange, TX; sister, Rose Cartmell of Long Beach, CA; and 61 grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Donald "Shorty" Cochrum; her parents, William Martin and Clara Augusta (Wywias) Holzer; daughter, Patricia Ann Ahlgrim and her husband Ronald; sons, Donnie Ray Cochrum and Larry Wayne Cochrum; sisters, Annie Marie Holzer, Katie Holzer, and Agnes Carter; and brothers, Albert William Holzer, John W. Holzer, and Joe Holzer.

Visitation will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm, and Monday, December 12, 2016 from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus, TX.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 12, 2016, 2:00 pm at Henneke Funeral Home in Columbus with Clayton Wallin officiating.

Burial will take place in Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus.
