Jacob Farrar I was husband to (possibly) Mary Haughton and father of Jacob II who was the planter who immigrated to Massachusetts in the early 17th Century.

Mary's parents were John Haughton and Anna Maria Wicht.

Jacob's father was Wyllyam Farrar and his mother was the former Margaret Bannyster. Both Wyllyam and Margaret are buried at the "Old St Thomas a Beckett" Churchyard at Heptonstall.

St John's that sits on the site today is the 3rd such structure to be erected here. The present church was built in 1798 with numerous updates since then.

There is no known depiction or artists rendering of the Old St John's from the 16th Century.
