Arthur Creed Bouldin, age 90 of Pittsboro died Friday, April 1, 2016 at UNC Hospitals.

Mr. Bouldin was born in Chatham County on July 10, 1925 to the late James Frank Bouldin and Mary Elizabeth Creed Bouldin. Mr. Bouldin grew up on a dairy farm. He also served in the Army at the end of WWII. He married Ruby Lois Rives on October 20, 1945. Mr. Bouldin began his career as a carpenter with his brothers, building houses. Later, became a cabinet maker and owner of Pittsboro Builders Supply for over 20 years. After “retirement”, he taught himself to play the bass and was a regular at “Friday Night at Charlie’s”

Arthur loved his family and church family. He was a lifetime member of Emmaus Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. He was involved in many building projects throughout the years and much of his handiwork can be seen throughout the church, homes of his children and grandchildren, and several local businesses.

In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Ruby Lois Rives Bouldin; six brothers Edgar Bouldin, Elmer Bouldin, Wilbur Bouldin, Raymond Bouldin, Robert Bouldin, Charlie Bouldin, and one sister Lillian Vaughan.

Mr. Bouldin is survived by two sons; Kenneth David Bouldin and wife Barbara of West End, James Arthur Bouldin and wife Dianne of Pittsboro; daughter Joan Luellen and husband Mark of Sanford; four grandchildren, Stephanie (Robert) Barber, Lisa (Bradley) Whitaker, David (Becky) Bouldin, and Samuel Luellen; and seven great-grandson’s; sister-in-law Lillie Bouldin; and many nieces and nephews.
