Robert D. Parks, Sr, 78, of Sparta, IL went to be with his Lord, after a struggle with cancer, on December 17, 2016.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 5pm to 8pm at the McDaniel and Lee Family Funeral Homes, 111 West Main Street, Sparta, IL.
Viewing will be held Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 10:00am with the funeral following at 11:00am at the Sparta Christian Church, 800 S Chester Street, Sparta, IL. Pastor Clint Evans of Sparta Christian Church will be officiating. Burial will follow the funeral at Caledonia Cemetery.
Bob was born on May 31, 1938 in Christopher, IL.
He was married to Rae Parks (Elkins) on June 11, 1957 in Christopher, IL; they have been happily married for almost 60 years.
Bob worked as a Bindery Supervisor at Spartan Printing Company (GCIU) for more than 30 years. He accomplished a dream and graduated with his degree from Southwestern Illinois College with honors in 1999.
He was passionate about and has been a vital part of the ministry and an active Elder of the Sparta Christian Church for many years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin and Nellie Parks; as well as his brother, Benjamin Parks Jr. and sisters, Geneva Tacket and Nellie June Chateau.
