Leon Bradford Payne, 85, of the Eglantine community near Shirley, Arkansas, died Monday, April 4, 2005, at Indian Rock Village Nursing Home in Fairfield Bay where she had been a resident for the past fourteen months. She was born November 14, 1919, in Eglantine to the late Willie and Sally Walley Bradford.

Mrs. Payne retired from Banquet Foods in Clinton and was a homemaker after retiring. She was a member of the Eglantine Church of Christ and a lifelong resident of Eglantine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Payne; one stepson, Bill Payne; one step-grandson, Bill Payne, Jr.; eight brothers, Dee, Joe, Bud, Cecil, Clonas, Willie, Johnny, and George; and four sisters, Jewel, Selia, Lovie, and Lucille. Survivors include three sisters-in-law, Edna, Willodene, and Opal Bradford, and many nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, April 5, from 5:00-7:00 P.M., at the Olmstead Woodland Memorial Park Chapel. Services will be held Wednesday, April 6, at 2:00 P.M. in the Eglantine Church of Christ with Walter "Dub" Clark officiating. Interment will follow in the Eglantine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews: Jerry Dale, Larry Don, and Tommy Simpkins, and Hansel, Clofus, and Lennie Bradford. Arrangements are by Olmstead Funeral Home, Inc.
