Linda Deacon, 85, of Creston, died Monday October 4, 2010 at the Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Linda Anna Deacon was born February 25, 1925 in Mineola, Iowa to Meta "Minnie" Magdalena (Kruse) Miller and Carl Ferdinand Miller. She attended school in Glenwood, Iowa. On October 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert Burton Deacon in Mineola, Iowa. In 1969 Linda and Bob purchased the Taylor Bowling Center and built the new bowling alley on Cherry Street in 1980, retiring in 1983. Linda also was a homemaker. They lived in Creston for most of their married life. Linda was a member of the Women's Bowling Association and the Bowling Hall of Fame.

Survivors include three daughters: Eleanore (husband Mike) Henry of Creston; Carolyn Shultz of Olathe, Kan; Dellene Smith of Creston; one son: Aaron "Skip" (wife Teresa) Deacon of Creston; one sister: Alice Rohrberg of Glenwood; 21 grandchildren; 44 great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law; Dorcas Barger and Patsy White, both of Creston.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; husband Bob in 1998; seven sisters: Leona Shoening Lilly Sheel, Alma Leu, Arlene Sheel, Francis Sheel, Marvel Kruse and Eunice Miller; a brother: Emil Miller; son-in-law: Andy Smith; granddaughter: Kori Deacon and great-granddaughter Madelyn Henry.
