Albert enlisted in the Union Army in Delaware on June 19, 1861 as a Private in Company C., 2d Regiment of Delaware Infantry Volunteers. In Nov of 1861 he married Rachel C. Knox. His Regiment fought in the Seven Days Battles near Richmond, Va. Albert was mustered out due to illness and honorably discharged on April 17, 1863. He and Rachel raised seven children. He was tragically killed after being struck by a B&O train near Lamokin Station, Chester, PA, in March 1888, while walking home during one of the century's worst snow storms.
