Roy Antolick, age 74, 1261 Hemlock St., Bloomsburg, died at his home at 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2017, after an illness of four years.

Born in Northampton, on July 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Joseph and Stella (Sawka) Antolick. He graduated from Catasauqua High School in 1960, and received his B.S. degree from Millersville State College in 1964; his M.A. degree from Scranton University, and his administrative certificate from Lehigh University.

Roy resided in Bloomsburg for 24 years and formerly lived in Stewartstown, York County.

He began his teaching career in the Eldred Central High School, Eldred, N.Y.; and also taught at Pleasant Valley Area High School, Brodheadsville, where he also was the head football coach; Palmerton High School, where he served as assistant high school principal and acting superintendent; assistant principal at Kutztown Area High School; and principal at Kennard-Dale High School in Southern York County. His last employment was as superintendent of the Millville Area School District in Columbia County, retiring in 2003 after 10 years of service.

Roy was a member of St. Luke Lutheran Church, Bloomsburg. An avid reader, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing, and all sports. He was a member of Fort McClure Post 804, VFW, Bloomsburg. His hobby was collecting coins. He was proud of having served on the summer staff at the Trexler Scout Reservation in Lehigh County from 1955 to 1979.

Roy proudly served with the U.S. Army from 1969 to 1973. He spent one year in Vietnam and one year as a covert agent for Counter Intelligence assigned to narcotics and large scale money manipulations in Southeast Asia.

Surviving are his wife, the former Gail J. McGarvey, with whom he celebrated a 44th wedding anniversary on Sept. 9, 2016; a daughter, Jennifer G. Antolick, Rockville, Md.; a son, Richard Frey, and his wife, Joey, Birdsboro; four grandchildren: a sister, Barbara, wife of Jerry Golden, Carmel, Ind.; and a brother, Joseph Antolick Jr., and his wife, Penny, Thailand.
