Kelly R. Hare
TYNER - Kelly Raymond Hare, 90, of 3032 Kelly's Beach Road, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, in Sentara Albemarle Medical Center, Elizabeth City.
Mr. Hare was born in Chowan County on July 5, 1926, and was the son of the late David Richard and Mamie McClenney Hare. A retired farmer, he will long be remembered by his family and friends for his love of Tennessee Walking Horses, and growing his vegetables, especially tomatoes. An Army veteran, he served in World War II.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn White Hare; a son, Tony Raymond Hare; five brothers, Vance, Wilbert, Edward, Gilbert, and David Richard Hare, Jr.; and by two sisters, Lillie Dixon and Beulah Daughtry.
Surviving are his son, David James Hare and wife Wilma; his daughter, Shelby Hare Lilly and husband James; a daughter-in-law, Joyce Alexander Hare; a sister, Cornelia Perry; 10 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hare was a member of Ballard's Bridge Baptist Church, where a celebration of his life will be held Tuesday, January 3rd, at 2:00 p.m., and will be conducted by his pastor, The Rev. Ron Parr. A private burial will follow in Beaver Hill Cemetery, Edenton. Friends may join the family at the home of James and Shelby Lilly, 3124 Kelly's Beach Road, Tyner.
