Mrs. Opal Jane Ruby, 94, of Hurricane went home Friday, September 21, 2007, at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.

Born June 15, 1913, in Hurricane, Opal was a daughter of the late John and Emma Hoffman Ashworth. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Randolph Ruby, and her son, John Randolph Ruby.

Opal was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a member of Gateway Church of Christ, St. Albans.

She is survived by her children, Emma Jane Mynes and Eva Jo Ashworth, both of Hurricane, and Forrest Dale Ruby of Wendell, N.C.; and her grandchildren, Derrick Mynes and his wife, Peggy, of Milton, Brenda Haynes and her husband, Ken, of South Charleston, Gina Silbaugh and her husband, Steve, of Hurricane, Elizabeth Carpenter of Hurricane and Alicia Page Thomas of Charleston. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Mason Mynes, Troy Silbaugh, Nash Carpenter, Jenn Carpenter and Mirand Nichole Thomas; and sister, Lucy Torman.

Funeral service will be 3 p.m. Sunday, September 23, at Bartlett-Chapman Funeral Home, 409 Sixth Ave, St. Albans, with Pastor David Stauffer and Pastor Jeff Ranson officiating. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans.
