John was born in Hand Co., SD, April 30, 1914, the son of Frank A. and Maude E. (King) Abbott. He attended school in St. Lawrence, graduating with the class of 1935.

He served in the military with the 64th California in Hawaii from 1938-1940.

John and Carolyn (Skala) were married in Beadle Co., SD April 6, 1940. They resided in St. Lawrence, until after the school year in 1953, when they moved to Washington. They were the parents of a daughter, Jonni, and son, Frank. John and Carolyn later divorced.

On May 29, 1963, in Carson City, Nevada, John married Eleanor C. (Henry) Aden. They lived in Manteca and Hemet California.

John died September 8, 1999 in Sacramento Co., CA. His cremains were brought back to South Dakota and scattered from an airplane over the old Frank Abbott farm in Spring Lake Twp., Hand Co. by family members.
