He was an active member of the Boy Scout Program and served for several years as the head acolyte at St. Martin in the Fields Episcopal Church in Atlanta, Ga.
He loved being a student. In his Junior year at Chamblee High School he was offered the opportunity to begin his college studies early at Georgia Tech, where he graduated with Honors with a B.S. in Biology. Gary went on to the Medical College of Georgia where he received is M.D. degree in 1980.
There he meet his wife, Mary Fitzgibbons, and they married April 5, 1980 in Cordele, Ga.
His Internship and Residency took them to Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center. Just after completing his residency in 1983, he passed away from heart failure.
They had no children.
