John Saltzman, 88, of Coloma, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2016 at his home.

John was born July 24, 1927 in Coloma, Michigan. He was the youngest of five children born to Adolph and Louise Saltzman. John graduated from Coloma High School and shortly thereafter joined the United States Navy where he served his country during WWII. John and Daniece Grant were married in October of 1947. The couple resided in Coloma where they raised a family of their own. John worked as an inspector at Whirlpool Corporation for over 40 years prior to retirement. He also built three houses during his lifetime, including his current home. John was also instrumental in helping start Coloma's Little League Baseball program which played by the old Washington School.

John is survived by two sons, Mark (Cheryl) Saltzman and Robert (Maureen) Saltzman; eight grandchildren, Andrea, Jessica (Jim), John (Leah), Gerilyn, Travis, Brandon (Amy), Melissa (Devon) and Brian (Liz); and ten great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Daniece in 2009; a son John; three brothers, Walt, Carl and Robert Saltzman; a sister Betty Denbow; and his parents.

Private family services were held Tuesday at Coloma Cemetery. Duffield & Pastrick Family Funeral Home in Coloma assisted the family. Memorial donations in John's memory may be made to Coloma's Little League Baseball program and may be sent in care of the funeral home at 6548 Paw Paw Avenue, Coloma, MI 49038
