A warehouse supervisor at Letterkenny Ordnance Depot, resigned his job about 10 am last thursday and left the depot. He was last seen walking along the highway toward Chambersburg. He was later found near the railroad bridge on Price's Church Road, Waynesboro. He was a native of Zullinger, the son of Bruce and Rhoda(Fitz) Fitz. He was born January 1, 1910. Since 1918 he had lived in Waynesboro. He was a graduate of Waynesboro High School Class of 1929, and had been employed at the D. L. Miller Company for 20 years. For the last eight years he had been employed at Leetterkenny Ordnance Depot and at the time of his death was supervisor at Warehouse 3. He was a member of St. Paul Evangelical and Reformed Church and had served as superintendent of the Sunday School, and for a number of years was a member of the church choir. During World War 2, he served in the US Navy as radarman, third class. Mr. Fitz was also a member of the American Legion, Fraternal Order of Eagles and Eagles Club, Inc. He had been an agent of the State Farm Automobile Insurance Company for the last four years. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Snyder) Fitz married May 29, 1938; his parents, and these brothers and sisters: Lloyd, Quentin, Mrs. George Weaver, Mrs. Charles Bumbaugh, all of Waynesboro, Mrs. Jack Owens, New Orleans, La. Private funeral services made at the request of the deceased will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday from the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Paul Nagy, Jr. Burial will be made in Quincy Cemetery. Government worker, took his life.
