Affectionately known as "Si". Raised at the Quincy Orphanage. Married M. Grace Snyder, May 30, 1917. Father of Frances, Alson, Jr., Robert & Jack. Machinist at Teledyne Landis Machine Company, Waynesboro, PA, for over 40 years. Also served as Republican Jury Commissioner in Franklin County, and later Judge of Elections. Served on Board of Director for Quincy Cemetery.
Alson S. "Si" Little, 84, of 711 Clayton Avenue, died at 1:50 pm Sunday in the emergency room of the Waynesboro Hospital. He had been in failing health for the past two years. He was born in Chambersburg on November 9, 1896, son of the late C. Frank and Margaret (Cramer) Little. He was raised at the Quincy EUB Orphanage where he learned the baker's trade and, for several years, was employed at the Wyand Baking Co. From 1916 until his retirement in 1962, he was employed as a machinist in the chaser department at Landis Machine Co. He served as Franklin County jury commissioner from 1941 to 1953. He and his wife were married on May 30, 1917, and had lived at the present residence for the past 57 years. Little was a member of Faith United Methodist Church. He had served on the official board of the church and was a former treasurer of the church and the church Sunday School. Little was a member of the Crider Men's Bible Class and had taught in the Boy's Department of the Sunday School. He was also a member of Acacia Lodge No. 586 F & AM and the Waynesboro Chapter of the AARP. In addition to his wife, Mrs. M. Grace (Snyder) Little, he is survived by two sons, Robert S. Little, Chambersburg, and Jack V. Little, Waynesboro. Also surviving are six grandchildren, Sally Yingst, Vicki Waller, Cindy Little, Laurie Wright, Carole Ann Kline, and Jack Little, Jr. and three great-grandchildren, Melissa and Jason Waller and Shannon Kline. He was preceded in death by daughter Frances Little Yingst and Alson S. "Bubby" Little, Jr. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 11 am in the Grove Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Howard Smith. Burial will be in the Quincy Cemetery. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flower, contributions may be made to the Faith United Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
