Gladys Owens Williams, of De Kalb, Texas, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015, at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 93. Gladys was born March 26, 1922, in Spencerville, Oklahoma, to Wiley Marvin and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Phillips.
She was a Licensed Vocational Nurse and a member of Hubbard Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by two husbands; Brooks Owens and James V. Williams.
She is survived by four sisters, Della Jo Foster of De Kalb, Texas, Sarah Kennedy of Rusk, Texas, Rosie Phillips of Houston, Texas and Betty Patterson of Ft. Collins, Colorado; a brother, W.M. “Speedy” Phillips of Avery, Texas; 20 nieces and nephews; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Rick Gandy and Rev. Roddy Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant, Texas.
