Born in Albany, Virginia was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice (Flagler) Andrews. Virginia graduated from Altamont High School and Albany Business College. After graduation she worked as a clerk at Albany Savings Bank and later worked at Whitney Department Store.
Virginia was a former member of the Turnpike Rod and Gun Club Women's Auxiliary and was a parishioner of Christ the King Church. She was a lover of the outdoors, especially gardening and fishing with her husband, Albert. She enjoyed cooking for her family and spending time with her nine grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Virginia is predeceased by her son, Albert J. Dwyer Jr.; and her grandson, Tony Cervoni. She leaves behind her beloved husband of 70 years, Albert J. Dwyer; her children, Robert A. Dwyer (Rose) and Pamela M. Cervoni (Dominic); her daughter-in-law, Linda Dwyer; as well as her grandchildren, Robert, Michael, Michelle, Eric, Tracy, Kelly, Jamie and Jennifer; and great-grandchildren, Ryan, Emma, Brodie and Abigail.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 8, from 4-7 p.m. at DeMarco-Stone Funeral Home, 5216 Western Tpke., Guilderland. The parish family of Christ the King Church will gather at 4:30 p.m. for a service of prayer and remembrance. All are welcome. Funeral services will begin on Monday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in Christ the King Church, 20 Sumpter Ave., Albany. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
