Kathryn L. Duncan, 96, of East Moline, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at Friendship Manor, Rock Island.

Visitation will be 1-2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at First Baptist Church, Moline, with a memorial service following at 2 p.m. at the church. A private burial will be at a later date at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

Kathryn was born April 13, 1920, in Kewanee, Illinois, daughter of Charles W. and Clara Mae (Boham) Thatcher. She married Robert Thomas Duncan on May 1, 1942, in Moline. He preceded her in death on Jan. 11, 2007.

Kathryn was the legal secretary for Atty. John Sandholm. She was a private secretary for Royal Neighbors Insurance Co. Kathryn was also a cashier at Bank of Orion for 10 years and was the first lady to be a secretary at the Moline Water Department. She was president of the PTA in the Orion School District. Kathryn received President of the Year award. She was a member of Orion Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Moline. Kathryn played the violin and piano and was a vocalist for many activities. She enjoyed flower gardening and crafts.

Kathryn leaves to cherish her memories son, R. Thomas (Randee) Duncan Jr, Bettendorf; daughter, Sharon Kaye Wagoner, Sherrard, Illinois; grandchildren, Brian (Julie) Romanowski, Teri (Tom) Malmen, Jeffery (Kathy) Duncan, Michelle (Jay) Bump; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Phyllis Crawford, Belding, Michigan; and two sisters-in-law, Barbara E. Thatcher and Barbara A. Thatcher, both of White Cloud, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; four brothers, and one sister.
