"Mrs Catherine G Weed, aged 78, widow of Charles Weed, pioneer oil man, died in her sleep at about 2 pm yesterday at her home, 506 North Brown street. Mrs Weed had suffered from a heart ailment for the past year. When Miss Gillen, a near neighbor, called on Mrs Weed in the afternoon she found her lying on her bed dead. Her physician said death was due to the heart condition and she had only been dead an hour or so. Mrs Weed was a daughter of William and Eleanor Gulland and was born in Mitcham, England, March 25, 1868. She came to Titusville with her parents at the age of 5 and had lived here since. She was married to Mr Weed, who died in 1940. For many years they lived on what is known as Weed hill on the Spring Creek road just north of Titusville. She was a member of the First Presbyterian church and leaves the following children: Mrs R J Fogle of Corry, Lewis M Weed of Titusville, Sherman Weed of Erie, and Charles F Weed, now in the US Army. There are four grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs Andrew Holfelder of Utica, NY, and Mrs Stewart Paul of Titusville. The body is at the E A Peterson funeral home where friends may call and where services will be conducted at 2:30 pm Wednesday . Rev A O Caldwell, DD, will officiate and interment will be beside the husband in Woodlawn."
