Carleen Jester Abbott of Town Road, Fayetteville, died Wednesday (June 11, 2003) in the Huntsville Hospital. She was 78. A native of Lincoln County, she was the daughter of the late Carl and Viola Stevenson Jester. She was a homemaker, a member of Kirkland Baptist Church, and a member of the Lincoln County Quilters Guild. Mrs. Abbott is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Ben Beddingfield of Fayetteville, and five sisters, Madgline Martin, Martha Burch, and Nancy Brazelton, all of Huntsville, Alabama, Florence Johnson of Fayetteville, and Etha Jean Moses of St. Louis, Missouri. She was preceded in death by a brother, Mr. W. T. Jester. Funeral services were held Saturday morning at Higgins Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Langford and Pastor Tommy Graham officiating. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashville beside her husband, George Vaughn Abbott, who died in 1982. Higgins Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
