The remains of Mr. John Mayall, brother of Mr. Samuel Mayall, were yesterday interred in Oakland cemetery. The decedent came to this city three years ago in shattered health, the result, it is claimed, of an attempt made to poison him some five years ago in Denver, Colorado, by a man named White, who was the direct cause of the death of Eben Mayall and a nephew. To this red-handed destruction of life, White added the lesser crime of robbery, having secured $100,000 from the Mayalls. The funeral was largely attended by the friends of the deceased in this city, the following acting as pall-bearers: M. T. O. Flower, Charles Leonard, J. L. Fisk, J. P. Allen, W. O. Morrison, and J. C. Quimby. Rev. Dr. Thomas, of St. Paul's Episcopal church, conducted the services.
