Hazel attended a one room school house in Lower Logan and her college years were spent at Oregon State and Lewis and Clark College. She worked as an accountant, and soon began raising her family. Hazel married Ray Bernert in 1956. They had three children, Dan Bernert, Nick Bernert, and Alisa Bartholemy. They have been happily married for 61 years. One of Hazel's favorite places was the Oregon Coast. She spent every summer there surrounded by friends and family. Hazel brought the entire family together by planning yearly beach trips at "the castle" at Archcape. She also loved playing tennis at Mountain Park, rafting down the Clackamas River, and playing Bridge with her girlfriends. Hazel was outgoing, spunky, and loved having a good laugh.
Hazel is survived by her husband, Ray; children, Dan, Nick and Alisa; grandchildren, Luke, Nicole, Amy, Jake, Anna, and Sarah. We will be having drinks and appetizers to celebrate Hazel's life from 2-4 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 4, 2017 at Seasons and Regions.
