Jack Hermon Pauley was the youngest son of Joseph C. "Joe" and Martha Varney Pauley. His siblings were Edna May, William Charles, Joseph Edward, James Madison, Robert Wilson, Frank Andrew, and Fred Varney. He married Irma Owens. Their children were Herman, Gary, Linda, Paula, and Ray.
Jack was one of five brothers who served in World War II. He entered the military near the end of the war, and served in Germany but saw no action against the enemy.
