John W. Marsee, 67, passed away at his residence on Thursday, June 30th, 2016. He was born on January 29th, 1949 in Danville, KY to late J.W. and Edith Marsee of Lancaster, KY. John was a lifelong member of the Lancaster First Presbyterian, where he served as a Sunday School Teacher, Deacon, Elder, and Treasurer. He graduated from University of Kentucky with Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. Following graduation, John began his work as a Sales Professional for the school supply equipment industry where he would retire after a 30 year career. He was a member of the Lancaster Rotary Club for many years as well. John was a character. He had an infectious smile, wit, and charm to him. Whether it was settling into a seat to drink coffee and hear the chatter at a local gas station or sitting down to the dinner table with his family to listen to their stories, he enjoyed to hear about the lives of other people. He was an avid watcher of the stock market ticker and he was never shy about sharing his wisdom and knowledge about investing. He never met a stranger. He valued the importance of relationships and connections with people and places, namely his community, so his life was rich with friendships and experiences. His family will miss his driving directions, yellow shirts, plastic cup of tea, his infectious laugh, kindness, and love. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Karen Ellis Marsee; their 3 children, Sara Elizabeth Comley (Eric), Aaron Bradford Marsee (Pleasant), and John Nicholas Marsee (Amanda); 2 grandchildren Addison Sage Comley and Jake Tilden Marsee; 2 sisters Ann Wesley Clark (George) and Elizabeth Bright Mohr. Contributions can be made in his honor to Heritage Hospice or the Lancaster First Presbyterian Church Scholarship Fund. A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM Sunday, July 3, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster, with Rev. Michael Denney officiating. A visitation will be held from 2:00PM until service time on Sunday. Ramsey-Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
