Avis Austin Reisinger, 89, of Bronxville, passed away on January 14, 2015. She was born September 21, 1925 in NYC, NY to the late Sterl and Mary (nee Ackerman) Austin.
Avis taught vocal music at School 8 (DiChiaro) in Yonkers and was Chair of the Music Department at John Burroughs JHS. She also taught instrumental music throughout the Yonkers school system.
She was also an active volunteer and gave much of her time at West Center Congregational Church, as well as being the director of the Invisible Choir at the Bronxville Christmas Pageant.
Avis is survived by her cherished daughters, Susan Reisinger and Jean (Tim) Reisinger Peters. She also leaves behind two loving grandsons, Robert Lynn Peters IV (Krista) and Timothy Austin Peters (Michelle).
Avis is predeceased by her husband George and her parents.
The family will receive friends at the WESTCHESTER FUNERAL HOME, INC. EASTCHESTER, on Friday - January 16, 2015 from 4-8 pm. A service will be held on Saturday - January 17, 2015 9:30 am at West Center Congregational Church, Bronxville. Interment to follow at Mount Hope Cemetery,
