Aroy Abrams
(August 3, 1928 - February 13, 2017)

Aroy Abrams passed away peacefully on Monday, February 13, 2017. He was born on August 3, 1928, in Laurens County, South Carolina, to the late Gus and Irene Byrd Abrams.

As a young man, Aroy loved clean sporty cars, his family and hard work. He served briefly in the U.S. Army. He relocated to Yorktown to work as an apprentice in the concrete masonry business. Later, he and his brother Gussie formed Abrams Brothers Concrete.

Aroy is survived by his wife, Jessie L. Abrams; his daughters, Lillian Kenner, Malinda Johnson (Wilbur), Debra Lee (James) Monica Shaw (Bruce) and Monique Palmer (Melvin). He is also survived by a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers, a sister and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Abrams may be viewed and the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17th in Whiting’s Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, February 18th in Bethel Church, 1705 Todds Lane, Hampton. Interment will be 12:00 noon on Monday, February 20th, in Hampton Memorial Gardens.
