Honeyman, Margaret ~ 95
Dec. 30, 1921 ~ Jan. 01, 2017

Margaret "Sue" Wagner Honeyman passed away peacefully January 1, 2017 at the age of 95 with her children at her bedside. She was born December 30,1921 to Henry W. and Neva M. Wagner in Portland. She lived a long and blessed life; mostly in Portland where she attended Riverdale Grade School, Catlin High School and the University of Oregon. During WWII Sue worked for Vega Aircraft Corporation before joining the United States Naval Reserve as a WAVE. Stationed in Washington D.C. at the Hydrographic Office, she was a star cartographer creating ocean charts of the South Pacific for the naval advance on Japan. Returning to Portland after the war, she worked at Pacific Telephone and Telegraph, where she put her map making skills to work. In 1952 she married Arthur Alan Honeyman and became a busy mother of three children. Being civic minded, she volunteered for many years at her children's schools and tirelessly translated a wide variety of text books into braille for the blind. In 1976 she moved to Gearhart, Ore. and then to Eugene in 2005 to be closer to her children and enjoy the good life of retirement at Cascade Manor. She is survived by her three children, Carlotta, Stuart and Meg; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan; sister, Neva; and brother, Henry. She will be laid to rest alongside Alan at Riverview Cemetery in Portland. A private family service with military honors for both Sue and Alan will be held at a later date. Remembrances in Sue's honor may be made to the Casey Eye Institute, OHSU, 3375 S.W. Terwilliger Blvd., Portland, OR 97239. Arrangements by Sunset Hills Funeral Home in Eugene.
