Peggy Jean Hunsaker, born on January 14, 1929, went to be with our Lord on March 18, 2009, after a long debilitating illness.

She was born and raised in Porterville, California.

She attended Porterville Union High School where she was a yell leader. She met her "soulmate" LeRoy Hunsaker in high school and were married in 1948.

She obtained her private pilot's license in 1955 and was a member of the National Association of Women's Pilots the 99's. She flew various types of single engine aircraft. In 1960, they moved to San Francisco for LeRoy to attend the U.C. School of Medicine and Peggy became a realtor to help with family finances. The family moved to San Diego in 1965 and LeRoy completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency and in 1970, LeRoy went into private practice.

Peggy shared a passion for golf with her husband. She was captain of Cottonwood ladies golf team, and after she and LeRoy joined S.D.C.C., she played on their women's golf team. At one time, she carried a 12 handicap and had recorded four holes-in-one during her lifetime. She was 58 years old when she retired from real estate to raise her infant grandson, Jayson Hunsaker.

Always an energetic person, she started a pay telephone business to run from home. She was a gifted artist, creating beautiful portraits of family members and pets.

She is survived by her husband Dr. LeRoy Hunsaker, daughter Tara Lynn and her husband Dr. Eric Sjoberg, and grandchildren Dustin, Jayson and Tyler.

Services will be held on Friday, March 27, 2009, 2:00 p.m. at El Camino Memorial Park.
