Melvin Bohn was born in South Dakota, a son of Herman Frederick Bohn and Minnie Augusta Boerger. He had siblings Mabel Eda, Lester Louis, Alton A., Herbert H. 1911–1974, Phyllis and Irene ~1915-?.

Melvin married Pearl and they had a daughter Beverly Anne Elliott.

In 1930 they lived in Minot, North Dakota where Melvin worked at a creamery and Pearl a cashier at a department store. In 1940, still in Minot, he was a railroad brakeman and Pearl still a cashier. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad, primarily as a conductor, for 43 years.

He was a member of the Eagles, Loyal Order of Moose and Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, all in Minot.

He and Pearl moved to Sun City one month before his death.

Melvin was survived by Pearl, his daughter Beverly Elliott in Spokane, Wash., a brother Herbert of Eureka, Calif., a sister Mrs. Ray Murphy of Merna, Calif., and three grandchildren.
