MRS. SUNDT, OCTOGENARIAN, DEAD AT NEWTON
One of the Oldest Residents of County and Settler Here in 1856
One of the county's oldest residents and pioneer settlers responded to death's summons Thursday night when Mrs. Minnie Sundt of Newton yielded her life to illness caused by advanced age and general breakdown.
Mrs. Sundt was past ninety years of age, having celebrated her ninetieth birthday last May. She was a native of Germany and has been a resident of Manitowoc county since 1856, coming here in that year and locating in the town of Newton which had always been her home. Mrs. Sundt was married for a second time in 1859, her husband preceding her in death twenty-five years ago, and is survived by three children, John of Rapids, Mrs. Muchlenbruech, this city, and Mrs. Wegner of Newton with whom she made her home. One son of a former marriage, John Heln(?) of Door county and a stepdaughter, Mrs. Andrew Handel, also survive.
Mrs. Sundt had made her home on the same farm in Newton for nearly 56 years. Funeral services will be held from the home in Newton, Rev. Seiker officiating.
