John Richard Aalderks, age 85, of Renville, Minnesota, died Thursday, May 8, 2008, at the Renville County Hospital in Olivia.
John Richard Aalderks was born on March 25, 1923, in Crooks Township, Renville County to Richard and Gertrude (Beekman) Aalderks. He grew up on the farm in Crooks Township and attended country School. In 1959, he moved to the farm in Emmet Township. He was united in marriage to Verna Cole on July 19, 1968, at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church north of Renville. He continued to farm in Emmet Township until retiring in 1985. John and Verna later moved into Renville and he has resided there since. He was a member of Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, and served on the township board. John enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, woodworking, tending to his yard, fishing, and playing cards.
Survivors include his step daughter, Arlys; his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Verna, his sister Ethel Brown, and his brothers, Arnie and Dick Aalderks.
