Funeral services for Mr. Charles Spell, 62, of., St. George, will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 25, 2016 at Bethel AME Church, St. George, with the Rev. Smalls officiating. Burial was held in St. James Cemetery, St. George.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not in his plans, so he put his loving arms around you and whispered, "Come to Me" on Saturday, March 19, 2016. Charles Truman Spell (Gypsy) was born in Walterboro on December 28, 1953 and was the eldest of five children of the late Blease and Blanche Spell.

He was a member of the class of 1972 of St. George High School. He was a retired veteran of the U.S. Army.

Charles was a lifelong member of Bethel AME Church of St. George.

Charles was a fun loving person, who loved everyone and was affectionately known as "Gypsy".

His hobbies were racing, collecting and rebuilding race cars. His favorite song was "I Got Another Yes Lord", of which he sung "Yes Lord" daily.

Charles was married to the late Rose Spell and to that union was born one daughter. He also was preceded in death by one brother, Grelin Spell.

Charles leaves to cherish his fond memories his wife, Katrina Holmes Spell, St. George; one daughter, Quinandi Spell, Augusta, Ga.; one son, Charles Truman Spell, Summerville; three step-children, Keytron Holmes, Jarrette Hankerson and Ja'Kayla Hankerson, all of St. George; two brothers, Vincent Spell, Summerville, and Clifford Spell, St. George; two sisters, Joann Faulkner, Brooklyn, N.Y. and Cathy Spell Jefferson (Everett), Charleston; one aunt, Ruth Houser, Santee; mother-in-law, Betty R. Holmes, St. George; three sisters-in-law, Perciller Simmons, Betty J. Holmes and Latonya Holmes, all of St. George; two grandchildren, two nieces, Germell Davis, North Charleston, and Brittany Pelzer, Bowman; one nephew, Antwan Green, Brooklyn, N.Y.; one grandnephew, Tristin Wine, North Charleston; a special friend, Patricia Salley, St. George; a special brother and friend, Larry Mosley; Godmother, Ms. Bernice Moorer; special mother, Mrs. Catherine Rolack; and a host of cousins and friends.
