Lorena Hejl passed away Tuesday, November 2, 2017 at the age of 97.

She was born February 17, 1920 to Charlie and Antonie (Wick) Brinkmeyer.

She was baptized April 18, 1920 by Pastor Pfenneger at Wuthrich Hill and confirmed April 14, 1935 by Pastor Rewaldt at Wuthrich Hill.

Her memorial verse was "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth." (Colossians Chapter 3, verse 2). She lived in the Taylor area all her life.

The family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 P.M., Monday, November 6, 2017 at Providence Funeral Home in Taylor. A Celebration of Life Service will be 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at Providence Funeral Home with Pastor Walter J. Miller officiating. Burial will follow at the Taylor City Cemetery.

Lorena worked at the Austin State School for 17 years and was supervisor on her building. She was a member of the Hermann Sons at New Bern for 60 years. She was also president of the lodge for 18 years. She joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in 1945 and was a member of the Priscilla Circle for 12 years.

On December 2, 1939 Lorena was married to Robert Hehman by Pastor Perry at Wuthrich Hill. To this union one daughter, Florene, was born. On January 28, 1944 Robert was inducted into the Navy and on January 7, 1945 he lost his life at Luzon as Seaman First Class during World War II.

In 1944, Lorena's parents moved in with her whom she took care of until their passing. On November 18, 1950 Lorena married Johnnie Hejl at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Thrall.

Lorena is survived by her son-in-law, Paul McCormick of Austin, granddaughter Jennifer Boedeker and husband David of Katy, three great-grandchildren Joshua, Catherine and Sarah Boedecker all of Katy and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorena loved her family dearly.

Preceding her in death are her parents Charlie and Antonie (Wick) Brinkmeyer, husbands Robert Hehman and Johnnie Hejl, brothers Bill Brinkmeyer, Raymond Brinkmeyer and Herbert Brinkmeyer, sisters Emma Hehman and Ruth Rushing, and daughter Florene Hehman McCormick.
