CPL James Loyd Lawrence, Vietnam Veteran, Native of Sylva, North Carolina.

Corporal James Loyd Lawrence Jr was a casualty of the Vietnam War. As a member of the Army, CPL Lawrence served our country until June 12th, 1968 in Binh Duong, South Vietnam. He was 18 years old and was not married. It was reported that James died from small arms fire or grenade. His body was recovered. James was born on July 27th, 1949 in Sylva, North Carolina. CPL Lawrence is on panel 57W, line 001 of the Vietnam Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. He served our country for less than a year.

He is the Son of Mr James Loyd Lawrence Sr and Mrs Mary Gaidos Lawrence, Brother of Miss Lethia Maxine Lawrence..

He served as a Combat Medic with Delta Company, 3rd Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, "Tropic Lightning", USARV.

He was awarded The Combat Medic's Badge(CMB), The Purple Heart Medal for his combat related wounds, The Vietnam Service Medal, The Republic of Vietnam Campaign Service Medal, The National Defense Service Medal.
