Screenwriter, Author. Schulberg turned out some of the best pictures of the silent era and launched the careers of several well known Hollywood stars including Ernst Lubitsch, Emil Jannings, Maurice Chevalier, Shirley Temple and Marlene Dietrich, among others. He worked as production chief at Paramount Pictures from 1925 to 1932. By the end of his life he was virtually forgotten and even placed ads in the trade papers looking for work. He died in his sleep.
