He was the son of Emma Sutton-Beck and Velvet Beck, Sr. His early schooling was done in Wills point, Texas, prior to the family‘s moving to Odessa, Texas in 1945, He attended Douglas Elementary School and graduated from Blackshear High School in 1955. He was united in marriage to Della Jane Brooks in 1956. To this union were born two daughters. Pamela Jane Beck and Brenda Nell Beck. He worked for Rexene, until his retirement. He was a life long Baptist, and resident of Clements, Texas for 53 years.

Survivors: Wife, Della Beck of Clements; daughters Pamela Jane Beck and Brenda Nell Rollee, both of Odessa; four grandchildren, Ty Yaphet Kotto Beck, Kellie Kidiju Beck, Monahan Labrea Rollie and Garrett Wayne Rollie, Jr., his mother, Emma Sutton-Beck; two brothers Velvet Jr., and Billy Beck; one sister, Florene Jones; one uncle Rev. Roscoe Sutton; three aunts; Mrs. Mildred Burts, Mrs. Lucille Sutton-Beck and Mrs. Hazel Servance, all of Odessa.
