MRS SAMUEL LANTIS DIES AT BLUFFTON

Mrs Samuel Lantis, aged eighty-one years, passed away Saturday at about 12 o'clock at the home of her daughter, Mrs George Shepherd in Bluffton. Mrs Lantis formerly lived at Markle where she was well known. Death was chiefly due to senility.

The deceased was born in July 1841, in Ohio, and came to Markle while a young girl. Her marriage was to Samuel Lantis of this city. Surviving children are Mrs James Barrett, Bluffton; Mrs R A Sparks of this city and Mrs George Shepherd of Bluffton with whom she had made her home. Also living are two brothers, one in Oregon and another in Idaho. The funeral arrangement have not been announced.

DIED AT SHEPHERD HOME

Mrs. Samuel Landis, 80 years old, former Markle resident, died of infirmities of old age at noon today at the home of a daughter, Mrs George Shepherd, 409 East Washington street, the death of her husband occurred at the Shepherd home on Sept 27.
Born in Tuscarawas County March 25, 1842, Mrs Landis was formerly Miss Saloma Nedrow and was the daughter of Simon and Rebecca Nedrow. At the time of death she was 80 years, 7 months and 3 days old. When a child she moved with her parents to Huntington County, the family settling near Markle.
The marriage of Mr and Mrs Landis took place in 1859. For the last twenty-nine years they had resided at Markle. Mr Landis was always engaged in the occupation of farming until he entered into retirement.
Mrs Landis is survived by three children, as follows: Mrs. George Shepherd and Mrs James Barrett, of Bluffton, and Mrs R A Sparks, of Huntington. Three deceased children are Stephen, Daniel, and Mary Lizzie Landis.
Two brothers surviving are Simon Nedrow, of Oshton, Idaho, and Wesley Nedrow, of Spokane, Washington.
Mrs Landis was a member of the Church of the Brethren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at the Markle Church of the Brethren. Interment will be made at the Barnes Chapel Cemetery. (Stone is actually located in the Star of Hope Cemetery)
