SUMMITVILLE,IN--James W. Kane, 89, Summitville, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2017 at Alexandria Care Center following an extended illness.

Jim was born on Feb. 20, 1928 in Alexandria to James and Mary (Queer) Kane and has lived in the area for most of his lifetime. He was a graduate of Alexandria High School--Class of 1946. He served in the United States Army Reserve from 1950 to 1959. Jim retired from Guide-Lamp in 1987 after 35 years of employment. He was a member of the UAW and the Alexandria Varsity A Men's Club. He enjoyed woodworking and was an outdoorsman.

Wife--Anna (Acres) Kane, married Sept. 4, 1954
2 Daughter--Janet (Clayton) Rudy and Jenny (Tim) Hiatt
6 Grandchildren
11 Great-Grandchildren
Sister--Myra May Minich
Nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a sister, Barbara Kennedy.

Family and friends are invited to a graveside service honoring Jim's life and legacy at 3 p.m. on Saturday at Park View Cemetery in Alexandria. Mike Owens will officiate and interment will follow. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Resident's Activity Fund at the Alexandria Care Center, 1912 South Park Ave., Alexandria, IN 46001.

The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff and caregivers at the Alexandria Care Center for the compassionate care they gave to Jim and our family.
