DONALD BUXTON, age 69, a resident of DeQuincy, Calcasieu Parish, Louisiana laid down his working tools on March 15, 2017 and entered into that house not made by hands, eternal in the heavens. Donald served his country in the U.S. Army for four years, serving in Viet Nam and Germany. Donald worked for the DeQuincy Police Department and was a Deputy Sheriff with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Department for approximately nineteen years. During his employment, he was Deputy of the Year for four years and also Deputy of the State. He was a member of several Masonic Lodges and Appendant Bodies. He was a 32 Degree AASR, Knight Templar and Eastern Star and also a Shriner. He also served for several years at the State level as Grand Torch Bearer for Special Olympics. Donald loved working with children was very involved in Big Brothers and Big Sisters. He also coached Little League Baseball for approximately eight years. He was awarded the Civic Award, J. C. Penney Award and Hometown Hero Award. Donald loved to run in marathons and he won many medals in the United States and Canada. He enjoyed fishing, drag racing and watching football. His favorite team was the New Orleans Saints. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Gina Buxton, his children, Stacey Franklin and husband, Preston, Tony Bradshaw and wife Jodi, Jason Bradshaw and wife, Kay all of DeQuincy, Louisiana and Donnie Buxton of Bunkie, Louisiana. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Dagan, Harley, Haliegh and her husband, Jon, Lakyn, Hunter and Tom. He is also survived by his brothers, Marvin Buxton and wife, Beth of Iowa, Barney Buxton of Lake Charles, Eugene Buxton and wife, Kammie of Indian Village and Berlin Buxton of Indian Village.

He was preceded in death by his parents, J. C. Buxton and Myrtle Ware Buxton, brothers, James Buxton, Phillip Buxton and Larry Buxton.

The family will receive friends on Friday, March 17, 2017 from 5 - 8:00 P.M. at Riley Smith Funeral Home and the funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017 beginning at 10 A.M. at Riley Smith Funeral Home, DeQuincy, La. Rev. David Doyle will be officiating. Interment to follow at Masonic Cemetery, DeQuincy, Louisiana.
