Myrtle Marion (Gray) Shelledy was born to Robert Gray and Mary Louise Rounds Gray in Coulee City, Washington. Her father, an immigrant from Glasgow, Scotland, to Canada and then to Washington was a railroad station master and orchardist. In 1909 the family moved to Spokane. There Myrtle married Floyd Shelledy November 3, 1914. They moved to Valley, WA in August of 1919. Mr. Shelledy was owner and manager of the Valley Telephone Company until the property was sold to the General Telephone Company in 1953.

Myrtle was a member of the Rebekah Lodge and a past Noble Grand. She was also a member of the Valley Methodist church. She was survived by two daughters, Marian Shelledy Spillum and Roberta Shelledy Dorway, and a son Rodney F. Shelledy; a brother Paul Gray of Portland Oregon, and 11 grandchildren.

Note: Myrtle's middle name was originally spelled Marion in the Scottish tradition. She later changed it to the more common English spelling of Marian.
