He born the fourth of eleven children in Kountze, Texas, on November 18, 1951, to Inez (Warren) Ealy and Emitt Ealy, both of whom preceded him in death. Shortly after his birth, his family migrated to Muskegon, Michigan. Clavon, affectionately referred to by most as "Clay," always extended himself to assist and care for others. His parents always left him in charge of his siblings. After his mother's death in 1967, he assumed an even greater role to help keep his brothers and sisters together. He was also very honest and direct, while simultaneously being kind-hearted and jovial. Upon graduating from Muskegon Heights Senior High School in 1970, he joined the United States Navy. After a brief tour of duty, he moved to Los Angeles, California. He also attended college for a while, and worked on classified projects for the United States Government. In 1991, he was introduced to, and wholeheartedly embraced, the gospel of Yahshua the Messiah, and became a member of the Institute of Divine Metaphysical Research (IDMR). He would often say, "No matter what happens in your life, the gospel comes first!" He left Los Angeles in 1998 to visit other branch schools throughout IDMR. In March of 1998, he heard a cry for help from Kalamazoo, Michigan. He spent time there, and was a great asset to them in their efforts to preach the gospel. Upon his return to Los Angeles in 1999, he was devoted to caring for Mrs. Essie Ross, who he lovingly called "Grandma." It was during this time that he met Bernice Dorsey, who was caring for Mrs. Ross during the day. On December 20, 2002, Bernice and Clay were married. Together, they devotely cared for Mrs. Ross until her demise in February 2004. They always went above and beyond their call of duty, ensuring that they brought "Grandma" to bible class despite her inability to walk. He departed this life on Thursday, July 8, 2004. He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Bernice of Los Angeles, CA; four brothers, McArthur White and Randolph Ealy of Muskegon, MI, Donald Ealy of Beaumont, TX, and Charles Ealy of Grand Rapids, MI; three sisters, Shirley Ealy and Patricia Ealy of Muskegon, MI, and Michelle Ealy of Houston, TX, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. He also had one sister, Jeanette Ealy, and two brothers, Larry and Roy Ealy, who preceded him in death. Many others will also miss Clay, his smile, his laughter, his love, and his concern for others, including his surrogate family in Los Angeles, and his very dear friends, Melissa and Willis Churchwell of Kalamazoo, Michigan. Funeral services were held at Hollywood Cemetery in Hollywood, California.
