Adah Abraham was the daughter of Joseph Sewell (1785-1870) and Margaret Bell (1788-1862), and was born in Scarborough, York County, Ontario, Canada in 1823.

On 14 Nov 1844 she married Henry Abraham, son of William Abraham (1792-1859) and Ellenor McBride (1794-1879) at St. James Anglican Cathedral in Toronto, York Co, Ontario, Canada. Rev. H.J. Grasett, Asst. Minister at St. James performed the ceremony.

Henry was a farmer by trade, and in 1845 they settled in Darlington Township, Durham County, Ontario, on Concession 7, Lot 24, where they both lived until their deaths. They had 13 children together: John Henry Abraham (1846-1937; W. Bramwell Abraham (1849-1912); Joseph Byron Abraham (1848-1916); Solomon Abraham (1850-1873); Abner Abraham (1853-1901); Dianah Abraham Garfat (1855-1897); Ada Abraham (1857-1904); Sarah A Abraham (1858-1901); Henrietta E Abraham Garfat (1859-1902); James Abraham (1859-1942); Absolom Abraham (1860-1943); Thomas Abraham (1861-1895); and Margaret E (1861-1935). There were two sets of twins in their family: son James and daughter Henrietta born 11 Nov 1859 and daughter Margaret and son Thomas born 11 Dec 1861.

Adah died of heart failure on 11 Apr 1897 and is buried with Henry and many of their children and grandchildren in Hampton Union Cemetery.
