"Granny" Grace Bullard, 96, of Las Cruces, NM, passed away peacefully on March 23, 2017 in El Paso, Texas, surrounded by her family.

Grace was born in Talihina, Oklahoma on February 27, 1921. She moved to the Mesquite, NM area with her parents and siblings when she was 8 years old. At that time, she began working in the cotton fields. Grace married Jackson Lee Bullard on December 4, 1938 in Hillsboro, NM. To this union, they had three daughters, Jackie Sue, Linda June and Margaret Ann. Grace was a homemaker and was as tough as a boot. She worked very hard and could do just about anything she set her mind to. Together, Grace and Jack worked in various places including a cafe, and a filling station/ garage in Mesquite, NM. They ran a fruit stand/car lot in Mesilla Park, NM and farmed cotton in the Salem/Hatch, NM area. Grace also drove a school bus in the Gadsden district for a short time and worked in different school cafeterias in Las Cruces, NM. "Granny" Grace loved to garden, sew, cook, oil paint, read her bible, listen to gospel music and spend time with her family. She devoted her time and talents to her church in any way she could, teaching Sunday school, working in the kitchen and she even helped build (hammer and nail) Temple Baptist Church and the East Mesa Baptist Church in Las Cruces, NM.

Grace is preceded in death by her parents, Houston and Ida Beasley; husband Jack Bullard, one brother, Pony Stevens (Zelta), a sister Edna Walling (Bud) two son-in-law's, Jay Rigsby and Carl Roberts.

Grace is survived by her daughters, Jackie Roberts of Mesilla Park NM; Linda and Herb Hearon of El Paso, TX; Margaret Rigsby of El Paso, TX; nine grandchildren, Susie (Roy) Garcia; Barbara (Dan) Gross; Robin (Jamie) Widner; Jeff Roberts; Jason Roberts; Lorie (Derek) Lane; Sheila Smith; Teresa (Victor) Neff and Michael (Wendy) Rigsby; twenty-three great grandchildren and nine great, great grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Linda, Herb and Savannah Hearon and to Envision Hospice for their support in her final days.

The family would like to extend an invitation to "Granny" Grace's Funeral service on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at 2 pm at Getz Funeral Home, 1410 E. Bowman Ave., Las Cruces, NM with Dan Gross and Jamie Widner officiating. Burial will follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Las Cruces, NM. Getz Funeral Home are handling the funeral arrangements.
