Peter Walls, Sr., a son of Samuel and Mary Walls, was married, for a short time, during early adulthood, to a woman whose name is not known. That wife died and Peter remarried to a woman named Sarah (c1781-1840). The couple resided, with their children, to the southeast of Georgetown, Sussex Co., DE, where all the children were born and raised.

With his first wife, Peter had a daughter named Mary (c1793-1843). His children with second wife Sarah were: James Peter (c1797-1856, husband of Ann M. Smith [c1796-1873]), Nancy (c1799-1852, wife of a Joseph), Peter Jr. (c1800-1855), William (c1802-1852, husband of Isabella Lawson [c1806-1873]), Sarah (c1804-1851, wife of Henry Lawson [born circa 1800]; she may have also previously been married to a Calhoon), Cornelia "Nealey" (c1806-1862), wife of Lemuel Johnson [c1803-1866]), Samuel B. (he may have been married to a woman named Charlotte Joseph), David C. (c1810-1840, husband of Nancy R. "Bernnum"; he may have previously been married to Mary Short), Lydia (c1813-1876, wife of Samuel White "White" Johnson [b. ca. 1803]), Brinkley L. (c1815-1849, husband of Sarah "Bainum" [b. ca. 1815; her middle initial was either N. or H.]), Julia Ann (b. ca. 1819, wife of Noah Joseph [b. ca. 1799]), and Thomas Paynter (c1823-1905, husband of Ann Hall [b. ca. 1823]).

Peter remarried to a woman named Comfort following Sarah's death. No children resulted of that union.

Following is a transcription of the Last Will and Testament of Peter Walls, Sr., which was proved on 28 March 1848:

In the name of God, Amen: I Peter Walls of Sussex county and state of delaware [sic], being weak in body, but of sound and disposing mind and memory, thanks be given to God for the same, do make this my last will and testament in the following manner, viz - My Soul I commend to Almighty god [sic] who gave it, and my body to the earth to be buried at the discretion of my Son James Walls, whom I hereby constitute my sole executor, and my worldly estate I dispose of as follows, to wit-
Item first. I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Comfort Walls, during her natural life, the use of one Bed & furniture, one table, three chairs, three knives and forks, & three spoons, Such as I may possess at the time of my decease, and no more of my estate, and immediately after the death of sd. Comfort Walls, the aforesaid property, [sic] Shall fall to, and be possessed by sd. James Walls my son, and be by him the said James Walls and his heirs freely possessed and enjoyed forever-
Item Second. I will and bequeath unto my said son James Walls all the estate Right, title, claim, Interest, and demand of, in, or to, any property, real personal or mixed, money or monies, on hand or due, that I may have at the time of my decease, except as above stated, to be by him the said James Walls and his heirs freely possessed and enjoyed forever, and if the aforesaid property, [sic] (the part devised to the widow excepted, [sic]) that may come into the hand of said James Walls my executor (after deducting all expenses and trouble out of said sum) shall be Sufficient to settle of the whole claim or claims that said James Walls holds against me by Bond, Note and book account, then he is hereby requested to give full credit for the Same, but if a ballance [sic] is left due sd. James Walls, after the sum that may come into his hands is applied thereto then in that case my earnest request is that the full amount of said ballance [sic] shall be paid by my two sons William and Brinkley L. Walls, to each of whom I have given by deed, the one third part of my Real estate, with the express understanding that they Should each pay their proper share in settling off the afore Sd. claim of James Walls against me.
lastly [sic] I hereby revoke all former wills by me made. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal, This June the twelf [sic] day. In the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred forty and Six-.... Peter Walls (seal)
Signed, Sealed, pronounced & declared by the testator, as and for his last will and testament, in the presence of us, who at his request, in his presence, and in the presence of each other have Subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

The large obelisk that stands in the family burial ground, memorializing Peter and his marriage family group, has twelve Walls Family members' names and sets of years carved on it, three per side. Going from the front (facing Peterkins Road) side counterclockwise, the stated names and years are: Lydia Johnson 1813-1876, Brinkley Walls 1815-1849, Thomas P. Walls 1823-[no death year inscribed], Peter Walls 1773-1848, Sarah Walls 1781-1840, Mary Walls 1793-1843, Nancy Joseph 1799-1852, Peter Walls 1800-1855, William Walls 1802-1852, Sarah Lawson 1804-1851, Nealey Johnson 1806-1862, and David C. Walls 1810-1840. The bottom of the front side, below the Walls surname, says, "Erected by Thomas P. Walls."

Son Thomas P. Walls, who had the family obelisk erected, died in 1905.
