Rose Fairchild Dodson, 71, of Waldo passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at her residence.

Rose was born on July 3, 1945 in Monterey, CA. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Magnolia.

Rose was a true Southern lady, inside and out. She was a wonderful cook and when company was coming, out came the linens and china. She could grow anything, from vegetables to flowers. She loved her Lord and Savior and no work was beneath her, cleaning His church to singing praises in the choir, she loved being with His people. She was a devoted wife and mother, loved to dress her children in garments she created. She spent hours in Bible study and loved to share His word.

Rose had a servant spirit, when she saw a need no one even had to ask. She had a smile for every one especially children. She was a great encourager always writing notes of appreciation for many things that went unnoticed by others. She was loved by so many and will be missed greatly.

Rose was preceded in death by her parents, John Franklin and Ernestine Elizabeth (Best) Fairchild and beloved husband Jimmy Dodson.

She is survived by her daughters, Suzanne McGonigal and husband George of Stuttgart and Juliane Parker and husband Robert of Owasso, OK; son, Franklin Dodson and wife Jackie of Waldo; grandchildren, Laura Tewalt and husband Jeremy of Texarkana, Tyler Haynie of Buckner, Jacob Haynie and wife Carson of Hope, Andrew Parker of Stillwater, OK, Brock Parker of Owasso, OK, Kline and Ellie Dodson of Waldo; great grandchildren, Alivia and Natalie Haynie of Buckner; sister Brenda Love and husband Mike of Magnolia; dearest friend Sandy Grimmett of Waldo; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, Magnolia with Bro. Brent Summerhill officiating. Burial will follow at the Waldo City Cemetery under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., of Magnolia. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
