Ida Bender, 93, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017. She was born on October 20, 1923 to Carl and Rosina (Rall) Kiesz in Long Lake, South Dakota, and grew up on a farm a few miles from there. She married Alvin Bender in 1942. After WWII they purchased a farm outside of Leola, South Dakota, where they raised two children and farmed for 20 years. They sold the farm in 1966 and moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota, then moved to Rogers, Arkansas in 1975, where she was an Avon representative from 1975 until 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Alvin; siblings, Julius Kiesz and Emmy Sherburn; and a grandchild, Durand Bender. She was survived by her brother, Marvin Kiesz; sons, Glenn A. Bender and wife Jenney of Fargo, North Dakota, and Gerald Bender of Dayton, Minnesota; and grandchildren; Shaun and Tiffany Bender of Fargo, and Christopher Bender of Dayton. Services were held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, 7 April, at Rollins Funeral Home, Rogers, Arkansas, with a graveside service at noon at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
