Ann R. Casey, 91, 629 Catherine St., Bloomsburg, died at her home at 8:35 p.m. on Thursday, April 6, 2017, after an illness.
Born on Dec. 5, 1925, in Foster Township, Luzerne County, she was a daughter of the late Ignatius and Mary (Martinchek) Remener. She attended the Foster Township schools until November 1943, when the family moved to Millville. She graduated from Millville High School in 1944. She resided on Catherine Street, Bloomsburg, since May 1970.
After graduation, Ann was employed by the Girton Sales Co. from June 1944 until May 1959. Later, she was employed as a legal secretary at the Derr, Pursel, Lushas & Norton law firm, Bloomsburg, from August 1970 until she retired in May 2000.
Ann was a devout member of St. Columba Catholic Church, Bloomsburg, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She also was a volunteer at Maria Joseph Manor and Emmanuel Center for Nursing, both in Danville.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James W. Casey, on Nov. 7, 1996; by a brother, Edwin R. Remener, and by two sisters: Veronica Petro and Mary L. Remener.
Ann is survived by two daughters: Maureen A. Casey, Los Banos, Calif., and Teresa A., wife of John W. Woll, Bloomsburg; grandson, Jonathan Woll, Bloomsburg; and five siblings: Agnes, widow of Victor Serra, Upperco, Md., Jane, wife of Raymond Haladay, Bloomsburg, Joan, wife of David Andreas, Reading, Raymond Remener and wife, Rita, Montoursville, and Lawrence J. Remener, Woodbridge, Va.; and a number of nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Columba Catholic Church, 342 Iron St., Bloomsburg, on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, at 1 p.m. by her pastor, Monsignor Robert E. Lawrence. Interment will follow in New Rosemont Cemetery, Espy, where she will be interred next to her beloved husband.
