Marjorie “Ann” Aaker, 84, of Elkton, passed away on Monday, April 17, 2017 at the Riverview Retirement Community. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at the United Parish Church in Elkton, South Dakota. Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 20, from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M. at the United Parish Church in Elkton.

Marjorie Ann Aaker was born on December 2, 1932 in Watertown, South Dakota to Clarence and Maggie (Sumner) Solum. Ann received her education in Florence, South Dakota and was a graduate of Florence High School in 1951. She was united in marriage to Sidney Leland Aaker on June 27, 1952 in Florence. After their marriage they lived in many places including Florence, Flandreau, Elkton, and Hecla South Dakota, Hartland, North Dakota, Pipestone, and Lakefield Minnesota. Ann was employed at several places during her lifetime including Burnstad and Meyer in Florence, J.C. Penney in Pipestone and Brookings, Cenex, Great Plains Supply and Maynard’s Grocery in Elkton, and Throndset Pharmacy in Lakefield.

Ann was a member of the United Parish Church, United Methodist Women, Federated Women’s Club, Red Hat Society and was past president of United Methodist Women. Ann served as organist at New Helgen Lutheran Church in Florence and United Parish Church in Elkton.

Ann enjoyed gardening, playing cards, dragging her grandkids to Bingo, and dancing. She relished the time that she was able to spend with family and friends.

Ann is survived by her children: Ron and Faye Aaker, Tom and Peg Page, and Joe and Jenny Cochran; 9 grandchildren: Vikki Robertson and Pete DePuma, Maggie and Todd Schultz, Chad and Kaydee Short, April and Shannon Shultis, Ryan and Amanda Aaker, Ross and Nicole Cochran, Jacob and Tiffanie Cochran, John and Jessica Page, and Alex Page; 21 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren; sister Ruth Bludorn; sister-in-laws Edith Johnson, Marcine Aaker, Phyllis Solum; and special friend John Smallfield.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Sidney; daughter Debra Cochran; brothers Alvin and Burdette Solum.
