Carmella “Mimi” Armato, 98, of Rockford, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2017 at Riverbluff Nursing Center. Born February 3, 1919, in Rockford, the daughter of Thomas and Antonia (Migliore) Crapisi.

Carmella married Alex Armato in 1943 in Rockford. She was a lifelong member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. Carmella loved to cook and have family over for dinner. She loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survived by: her children, Sam (Liz) Armato and Margo (Tom) Murphy; grandchildren, Patrick (Christina) Murphy, Chris (Laura) Murphy and Dawn (Ken) Bersch; great-grandchildren, Brenna, Eryn and Alex Murphy, Christopher and Ava Murphy and Danny and Lesli Bersch; sister, Rose DiTomassi and numerous nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by: parents; her husband, Alex; siblings, Virginia Moscato, Alex Crapisi and Frank Crapisi.

Funeral Mass on Monday, March 6 at St. Anthony of Padua Church. Burial at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
